Just started looking for another ti to use as a track/autocross toy. The "Budget M3" is still too nice to park outside and beat on at more and more track events. I only wanted to spend ~$3000, so high mileage is a given. A quick check of autotrader shows only 50 for sale nationwide right now at any price...only 6 within 300 miles of where I live in AZ....and all of those are automatics! Anyone know of any better sources than the forums and autotrader.com? | | | 01-30-2010, 07:00 PM | #2 | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2009 Location: Rochester NY, Florida, UK Posts: 19 | 5 speed 318ti Try looking at jaxed.com & click on the mash. This will give you a cluster of 3 series but there are usually some 5spd 318ti's in there. You could always move to a country where people actually know how to drive & hence more manual gearbox options abound !! I had the same prob when I moved to the states 4 yrs ago, very frustrating. Over sea's we had the 318ti until 2004 & almost all of them were 5spd box's ! Best of luck m8 !! I see manual ti's come across the radar quite frequently in Arizona, it seems to be one of the states where they seem to be more plentiful. This Alaskan Blue, 5 speed, 126,000 miles for $3,100 has been for sale since 12/2009 in Tucson is worth a look at. If it were closer I might have picked that bad boy up! __________________ (00=[][]=00) _______________ ________ Steve Still looking for a monthy driver 1988 M3 parked 1967 2000cs parked | | | 01-31-2010, 02:54 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: LA & Colo Spgs Posts: 210 | Quote: Originally Posted by Altitude Seriously, you haven't been looking too hard. In the past, I've found that autotrader is usually a pretty good source, so was disappointed when a bunch of options did not fall into my lap. Thanks for the craigslist tip. I will definitely call on that one... Maybe there was some frustration hidden in there as I have been searching for a ti and there has been nothing, zero, nada, nichts, within 300 miles of me in the last 9 months, and when I check your neck of the woods in Arizona on my searches there is always 1 or 2 possible candidates on the market. The grass seems definitely greener over there lately . You know how hard it is to find a decent ti, and they are getting harder to find with each passing year. Geez, anymore it seem like I see more parts cars on the market than actual running ti's for sale , and the right one is definitely worth an airline ticket. Hey man, Good Luck in your search! | Thanks for the thoughtful response, Altitude. I completely understand the frustration...not many ti's to choose from in the USA considering only ~20,000 or so were ever imported here. I checked out the craigslist listing you found....he's decided not to sell at this time. I'm in no hurry, so will stay in touch. For my purposes, I've decided a Miata (or something like that) might be a better and more plentiful solution. There are tons of decent cars out there for $3000 or less...of course I will not be able to re-use all my ti parts, so will have to invest in Miata wheels, tires, etc... If you find another ti that interests you here in Tucson, and want a local opinion, just let me know. I'd be happy to check it out for you. Take care... | | | 02-06-2010, 07:35 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | The dealer on Scottsdale Blvd just past Hospitality Suites has a white TI but I think its an Auto... I have seen very few manuals of ANY model BMW here in the Greater Houston Area. | | | 02-09-2010, 05:13 PM | #10 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2010 Location: CLE Posts: 10 | Dude, try finding a decent car in the Memphis area. I'm not in a hurry but I figured with as much as I drive I'm trying to find a decent one. I really started liking then when I started reading that they got pretty good gas mileage. I wanted an M but took that away real quick cause of mileage. | | | 05-30-2010, 07:18 PM | #13 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2010 Location: Texas Posts: 18 | I agree.
