I've just recently started looking at 318ti's, and am thinking about grabbing one. I really love the red/black interior, but I want the Club Sport. Basically, I've come up with that the CS has a better suspension/brake setup, but has the purply-blue/black interior. I basically want the one with the M3 Technik package, but the red/black interior. Is this possible? Are the seats the same in the CS and the Mtechnik? A LSD is also a necessity. I race in STS (Northwest Region SCCA) class in an Integra, so I'm used to driving a gokart-car on a daily basis and I'll need something very sporty. I've driven an auto before and was not impressed. In a nutshell...here's my question. Can I get a 318ti with... The best suspension/brake setup, M3 Appearance Package The red/black Interior (but if the purple-blue seats are better, then those ones) LSD the 1.9L motor Manual transmission Preferrably black, red, white or silver. I won't even consider green. TIA if anyone can help point me in the right direction. | | | 04-01-2005, 07:01 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | The Club Sport was only in 95 and is basically what became the Sport starting in 96. The 95 had a M42 1.8L up until late 95. Then it was replaced with the M44 1.9L. The CS also only came in Bright Red or Jet Black. All Sports have the M-technic package except for the 1995 Sport. But the CS did plus M3 mirrors. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 04-01-2005, 07:33 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Delafield, WI Posts: 471 | The Club Sport had the M3 style rockers too. | | | 04-01-2005, 07:34 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Seattle, WA Posts: 6 | Ah. Is the red/black interior offered in any other year than 95? | | | 04-01-2005, 09:46 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Vancouver, B.C. The specs on the 1.8L vs 1.9L are identical though some of their components differ in construction (e.g. forged vs. cast crank shafts IIRC). __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 04-03-2005, 06:31 AM | #7 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Seattle, WA Posts: 6 | Ah very nice. The clubsport became the Sport, as in exact same suspension, brakes, etc etc (minus mirrors and side-skirts), correct? I've seen a bluish-purple interior on some ti's, what is this one called? What is the difference between the 1.8 and 1.9 motors? I'm sorry, I'd search but M42 and M44 aren't allowed in the search function. | | | 04-03-2005, 06:36 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Fort Collins, CO Posts: 290 | The M42 was only in 1995. The M44 was 96-99. 1.8L vs 1.9L, OBDI vs OBDII, direct acting cams vs rocker arms, forged crank and rods vs cast, AFM vs MAF. | | | 04-03-2005, 06:39 AM | #9 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Seattle, WA Posts: 6 | Where did the get the extra .1 liters from, bore or stroke? Just to reiterate, the Clubsport does have the M-Technik suspension, right?? __________________ | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
