Default Unhappy with Bavarian Autosport

My certified independent BMW repair guy just gave me a bill for replacing rear shock mounts, the rubber had seperated after only 2 years and 20K!And it's an automatic so it's not like I was tossing it around the track or anything.Called Bav Auto they said 1 year warranty, out of luck.Mount was probably made in China to keep cost low.I won't be buying anything mechanical from BA in the future!

RSM's for e36's are a poor design in general. They're known to fail, although 20k miles is a little soon. Best thing to do is upgrade to e46 RSM's or even better Rogue Engineering RSM's.

It was the "upgraded" model for the e46,their recommendation.

What suspension mods do you have, if any?

I was able to kill the cheapo swaybar endlinks from FCP groton in even less milage. I toss my car around though-even with it's automatic trans.

FWIW, Bilstein used to sell rear shocks valved specifically for the ti. They switched part numbers and now they share the same part number as the e30 rear shocks. However, when member VROOMCP ordered a set, he blew 3 RSM's in two days! They finally sent him the correct rear shocks, but he still had to shell out for new RSM's and labor, not to mention he was left stranded.

Edit; Just to clarify, he didn't buy them from Bavarian Autosport. I just mentioned it because of the rear shock mounts.

Wow. I mean, people are going to roll the dice however they want to, but for an automotive parts dealer to basically imply that as long as you're under the legal limit (or just slightly over, as the case may be for those that want to take that chance), you're OK to get behind the wheel is just utterly irresponsible.

I would think that, just for potential liability reasons alone, they wouldn't want to touch an item like that with a ten foot pole.

100% agreed with the breath analyzers issue.

I boycotted them ever since I spoke to their Sales Manager on the phone regarding a customer service issue. The man was a royal ******* to me. They lost my business...

What did Jack say was the cause of failure? I figure you went there as you are THAT close to one of the best Indy's in area. He is usually pretty good about telling you what is up with your car when something goes wrong.
