Default Thinking of getting a E46 325ti

I'm thinking of getting a 2nd car to drive as a daily driver in hope it will help keep my license and stop me from doing something stupid on the public streets.

I'd like something slowish, yet sporty, quiet and comfortable, but nothing too fancy it can't be parked on the street. Also got to be automatic for city driving. It doesn't make sense for me to have 2 performance cars. This rules out an E46 M3.

While searching for cars, I came across a E46 325ti as a candidate.

Originally I don't like the face of the E46 compacts. I think it's horrid and it's something that BMW should of killed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer when it was first conceived... BUT

I recently saw one on sale, and it seems to fit the bill. It's got sports seats, a reasonable amount of power, and it seems to be able to do everything my E36 compact can do, minus the power.

Has anyone had any experience with them? Are they any good?

Any feedback is much appreciated

I believe the front end can be swapped with sedan parts, pretty sure I've seen it done before
