Cool what does ti stand for

Hello from east sussex England
I've just brought a 1.8ti 98 (silver) i love it but dont really know what ti means, my mates tease me and say total idiot ha ha. I,ve just read all the stuff about the cat going wrong and never a truer word spoken as i have already changed mine after about a week of ownership but it makes the back box very loud and raspy so need advice on which aftermarket cans availible to the uk many thanks cool site by the way.

Isn't that "iT"? (like on the 5 series such as 535iT?)

I know that I=injected in 325i and 325is etc...but I'm pretty sure that it's different for the 318ti.

Read this.

ti is touring international and unfortunately the glossary section is no longer supported and I was not able to reinstall when I upgraded.

Default sorry guys but its Touring Injected

I got it straight from the factory I have the whole list of Symbols. My dad and I have been arguing about this so he finally emailed them and they wrote back the answer is "TI"= Touring Injected. Believe it or not thats what it is.

ps: That may be true of that model but the TI on the 318 is Touring Injected I used to think it was international and I want to win the arguement but when the factory says different I agree with the factory.

okay... haha
watevers...
i just remembered that this was discussed MANY TIMES here before and yeah, ti="touring internationale"
but since you got it from BMW HQ, I guess...
but I dont think that site is the only one that said that.
oh yeah, and I have seen that "nomenclature" list before too.
I thought it was "touring injected" too, but the 318ti is an exception and everyone here says that it is "touring internationale"

Then what is a 2002 ti since a 2002 ti does not have fuel injection?
That would be a 2002 tii.

You are reading it wrong. When ti is used it is touring international, the same as what ti means in 2002 ti. I will speak to folks from Mobile Traditions.

iT would be injected touring, not the other way around.
