Kumho Ecsta V710 are good tires, not as quite good as some but they last and are very tough. I had a client road race an S12 Turbo nissan on them and they were a really good value.

S12 has very vary similar suspension to a TI and similar handling. These tires were extremely predictable and very neutral in skid.

That sounds a little high but I am not familiar with those tires. I know the Hankooks are quite a bit cheaper than the Bridgestones but those were the only 2 I was looking at so I am not familiar with the others. I am hoping that with the Bridgestones and being a lower profile, I will be able to go down significantly on the tire pressures and not roll over onto the sidewalls. We have a test & tune in the Glen Region at WGI on April 30th so I am planning on figuring this all out then. That's if we have some reasonable temperatures (and hopefully no snow)!

Well, while I search for a deal on the RA1s, I did pick up a new set of Toyo R1Rs 205/45-16 for $380. It was hard to pass up. As I will have two TIs set up for Auto-X, I can set these up along with the RA1s.

Now to find a set of RA1s....

Picked up a set of Oz Racing 16x8 wheels for cheap. Just need to peel the gold plasti dip and mount the R1Rs.

I also have to see if my 15" Style 27s will clear my brakes before I get the RA1s.

Our first season with them we were in G Street and were always at the top of the time sheets (at least my son was) in PAX. They were great tires and worked really well. Last year we went to STX and were killed in PAX times. The tires seemed to lose some of their performance as well by the end of the season. One of our competitors ('12 Subaru WRX - D Street) went to the Bridgestone RE71-r and immediately went to the top of the Pax times. He is a very good driver but was usually 3rd or 4th in Pax, after getting those tires, he went to first in PAX by usually more than a half second or so. So this year, I managed to find a set of 17x8 Moda wheels (for free!) and went with a 245/40x17 Bridgestone RE71-r. All mounted and ready to go, but alas, in the northeast, we don't have anything scheduled until the start of May so I will be unable to let you know how those Bridgestone's work until a little later in the season. I am a little concerned with the wheels because they are pretty heavy, but free is free, I wouldn't have been able to buy the tires if I had to buy wheels as well. So for us, we are really looking forward to trying these RE71-r's out. Will keep you posted as to our progress this year!

Looking forward to hearing your feedback on the re71's
Spent so much time and money on my suspension rebuild that that it came down to the end to save 130 bucks and get the kook's.

Skimmer, I hear ya! If I hadn't found the wheels for free I would have had to go with the Hankook's as well. I just got new control arms & powerflex bushings and am installing them soon. Next up is a set of ground control springs. That however is probably going to have to wait until next year! Will keep you posted on how the Bridgestones work!

Found a better set of track wheels. Style 46 16x 7 wheels. All straight off a crashed TI. Less that 15lbs each. $37 apiece with crappy tires. Score!

Actually I was hoping they were the 16x7 off a Z3. My wife saw them and remembered I mentioned they would be quicker than the DS-2s she has on her TI.

She likes these better. They are destined for her TI. I'll look at tires for her now as a DD. I expect they will clean up very nice.

I will get another set. 16x7. I have a new set of Toyo R1Rs to put on. 205\45x16. Looked at a closeout sale for Koesi K1's at Tire Rack, but they only have two 16" left in stock.

Found a set of 16"x7" Style 46 non-bling for cheap. Took one of the shiny 15"x6.5" style 46 rims to check for straightness. The good news it is usable and just has a light bend in it from the TI accident. It will be ready in two days. The shop indicated while Style 46s are common, this shiny set is fairly rare and he thought I stole them for the price.

I was thinking of putting a set of Bridgestone RE-71s on the wheels for her, but thought that would be overkill and I want a little better wet performance for safety.

I was thinking on a set of 205/50-15" Dunlop Direzzas z102s for her as DD tires. Good performers at a great price. Any other contenders before I order them?

I'll post again when I get the 16" in and mounted.

Thanks!
