Question m3 tranny

Hi guys, i have a question, does anyone know if a 6SD m3 tranny would fit with the m44 engine? I want the low rpms at high speeds.

thanks

Considering a M50/M52 bolt to a stock ti tranny, my guess is yes.

I wonder if the driveshaft would need to be changed?

I think the S52 transmission is the same as a M52.
Why not just change your rear gear ratio?

Yeah, if you want lower rpm at high speed, find a 2.93 E30 LSD. They came on the 325e/es models.

All e36 trannys are interchangeable. You may or may not need to replace your driveshaft and flex disc depending on the output flange on the tranny.

My question is, was there ever a 6 speed e36? I've never seen one...

Compacts dude

the rubber guibo from the gearbox may need changing out, but it depends on the enginé more than the gearbox.

the euro e36 m3 3.2 321hp s52b32 had a 6 speed box

there was also the option for an SMG (sequ. manual gearbox) for this model, but most of them are now in the rubbish bin, as they suffer from dodgy solonoid control units in the gearbox themselvs

Won't the tranny exceed the value of the car.

Yes, euro 6spd conversion kits are like $5000. You would have to drive a lot of miles to recoup that cost in fuel savings.

the thing is that if i get a 2.93 LSD then my start up will be extra slow and i want it quick on the start up and low rpms at high speeds but i guess i have to keep what i have now and save up for an engine swap.

thanks

I have a 2.93 LSD if your interested. You'd need to upgrade your halfshafts too since this is the medium case diff. which is a nice improvement as well.

Its not terrible in first, but its not great either.

A swap isn't going to save you any gas, trust me.
