Default She got hit, body panel question

Some idiot crashed into my car as he was backing up. He left a note so my insurance is taking care of it and it's not costing me anything. The rear quarter panel was punched in hard 2-3 inches next to the door.
I went to a reputable body shop full of freshly painted BMW, Maserati, Porsche.

It's been 3 weeks now I'm waiting to be called but he says that it's taking long because he's ordered the rear quarter panel direct from BMW (new OEM). Because he didn't want to chance rusty scrapyard stuff.

I was surprised to hear they still sell OEM body panels for the Ti (and let him know), he insisted it's OEM. Is that a fact?

Also, if it's true, does anyone know how long it takes to arrive?
Is it BMW Germany or USA?

3 weeks already seems like an eternity cause I only drive her in summer! Any thoughts on this?

Yeah they still sell OEM body panels. Probably coming from Germany and if it takes as long as it did for my brake line to get here, it'll be about 3 weeks. Bummer about your car, but it's really cool the guy left a note. You don't see that very often anymore.

Almost never.

Be patient. I'd be thankful the guy was thoughtful enough to leave a note. Maybe somehow pass along some gratitude to him for doing so.

Thanks and yes I am lucky he did leave a note, but it was a busy street, he may have taken a big chance if he didn't.

I am thankful because it's not going to cost me a thing not even a deductible.

Our summers are short here in Montreal and I'm impatient

Bumping a old thread- does anyone know of any aftermarket supplier of these replacement rear quarter panels?

Looking to acquire one in a relatively short timeframe. The place doing the bodywork is waiting on my finding a panel...

Dealer or Junkyard... thats about your choices.. Thats what I found when mine got tapped, luckily the body shop had a wizard with a hammer and dolly and he made it look factory... Mad metal skills.. (I saw it before paint...
