Default 17" style 5 on TI

I tried searching but nothing came of it...

STYLE 5 PIC&INFO REQUEST thread

(maybe someone has links to info and pictures of TI's with style 5?)
Please post (forgive me im new here) Im all excited to get my wheels

edit: they are the 2001 style 5 off 540I

I am Trying to fit 17" style 5's on my TI!

1)will one need fender rolling?

2)What size tires do you recomend? 205/40/17?

3)If Im at stock ride height in rear, will i still need the fender rolled?

I've fit 17s on my ti body without any rolling. You'd want to low profile those tires though. Use tire racks calculator or other wheel size ones so you can choose a couple sizes that still give you the same overall diameter - I remember that I had a hard time finding my original choice when it came time to actually buy the tires.

I think the second post on that thread by cooljess will answer most of your questions.

As for tires, I believe you want to run 225-45s, but I could certainly be wrong.

I wish I had some style 5 wheels...jealous

215/40/17, no taller, no wider.

at stock ride height, you may or may not get away without rolling the rear fenders. fronts fit just fine without rolling.

you'll need 72.56mm-74.1mm hubcentric adapter rings, NOT SPACERS. Get aluminum not plastic.

right on thanks for the post. Im very interested in fitting the wheels. I like the rake look so I will leave the rear stock im just hoping to find a set of front springs to lower her a bit

Im thinking I may go with 205 40 17 just to be sure I wont need fender rolling

It would be really nice to see some pics, Is anyone else running style 5's on this forum on their Ti?

as soon as I have mine I will post the pics of the night im fitting
Ill try to get some shots of me at the tire shop as well.
cheers

There is a member named tonyyy I really like his Ti but I dont see many pics
who else has em?

Talking last questions

Very good eye on the hub bore, Ill have to find those centric rings that would be annoying having to listen to improperly mounted wheels down the hiway!
I had vette wheels on a jetta before and i just bolted them up (that was a mess of noise at hi speed) Thanks for the info

1)stock Ti lugs are ok or is the 540I lug seat different?

2)What is the logo size so a person can order some BBS logos for the center of the style 5 caps?

3)Does anyone know which bolts to use and what dishes fit (is it possible to get wider lips? If I do refiish the wheels)

It would be really nice having body matched centers and coloured lips

honestly, this topic bores me to death. There's at least 5 members on this forum running style 5's on their ti's. I've been running e39 wheels on my e36's since e39's first came out. It's the same story whether you're running style 5's, style 19's, style 32's, style 42's yada yada yada. The wheels are 17x8 et20. They have a center bore of 74.1mm. Yes you need to run a 215/40/17 tire or smaller. Yes you need to run hubcentric rings. Yes you need to roll your rear fenders. If you run your rear at stock ride height with stretched skinny tires, your car is going to look retarded because of the wheel gap. All BMW's after the e30 were 5x120 bolt patern. Myself, Wolferj, Bobbak, Philly, 3.2TI, Marcus2116, FMD, Angel318ti and probably many other either have run or are running e39 style 5's on our cars. There's many others running e39 wheels with the same specs on their ti's. I admit the search feature on this forum isn't the greatest. But if you'd spend a little time searching, I'm sure every question you have has been answered atleast a dozen times. Pics can be found in the photo gallery, as well as the "wheels on cars" thread. If you want to see about a hundred different e36's with e39 style 5's, check out bimmerforums.com's "rides and styling" section. I get about 2 or 3 PM's a week from people asking me about wheel fitment. Most of them don't even end up running any of the wheels they ask me about. My advice is usually to wait until you get a car and figure out what suspension setup you're going to run. Then figure out which wheels you want, then figure out which tires you need to make those wheels fit. Otherwise, JUST BUY WHEELS THAT WERE MADE FOR THE E36. I don't know why people are so afraid to roll fenders. The answers are out there, you just have to look.

hehehe sorry man, I was in an irritated mood last night(no beer and quitting smoking FML). As you can tell, I'm a big fan of style 5's and pretty much all two-piece e39 wheels for that matter. I've ran style 5's, style 19's and style 42's as well as a bunch of other wheels in the past. Style 5's are probably my favorite. I think I'm one of the few people who actually likes OEM e39 style 5's BETTER than BBS RS's. I like the flat lip better than the stepped lip. I like the look with and without center caps. I like the fact that they're two piece vs. the RS's which are 3 piece(pain in the ass and just another thing that could fail IMO). I like the fact that they're plentiful and relatively cheap. And I love the fitment. Hey man, just stick around long enough and you'll learn everything you ever wanted to know about these cars. There's all kinds of things that people do that goes against the grain. That's what makes the ti so special. We've used rear ends off of e30's, suspension off of Z3's, front ends off of M3's, you name it, someone will try it and let you know if it works, lol. We're not purists or elitists, we're the bastards of the BMW community. Heck, we take crap from everyone and that's why we love the hatch.

Default style 5 love

I found these and found that they cost lots... Im excited, I may rock them for a bit and refinsh them next winter! In canada we only get so long to drive on our summers so I may as well use the time up.

They are new to me so im happy with them, they took some saving, searching and waiting! I can put up with searching but the rest i hate!

My problem now is I need to find caps, would anyone know where I can find some?
