O well.... Just pull, you could try spaying a little silicon spray around the base; not sure it will help but could be worth a try. | | | 12-19-2006, 01:22 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | lol, yeah ill fith that fat lips all round! __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! From the back seat in fourth gear might even help. Put your back into it. | | | 12-19-2006, 05:37 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Fort Collins, CO Posts: 1,305 | maybe if you try vice grips around the top? I replaced my old one when it got so tired i jerked it off shifting into second gear...you don't want to wait that long...it's awkward ...you can do it baby put your back into it | | | 12-19-2006, 07:23 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Bend, OR Posts: 413 | ya, i put it in 2nd gear..and turn your right hand upside down when grabbing it. and gput your left around your right..and yank hard...straight back...unless it's been superglued...then your SOL +1 about not hitting yourself..lol..not a good feeling | | | 12-19-2006, 08:21 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Lynchburg, VA Posts: 200 | +1 to pulling straight up HARD. +sideways eight for not hitting yourself while doing it. | | | 12-19-2006, 08:46 PM | #13 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | or you could take a utility knife and just slice it from the bottom up(so you don't accidently cut the boot). Theres a plastic sleeve built into the knob, may take some elbow grease to cut through, but it will work. Even a small cut will atleast loosen it, just careful not to cut yourself. Pulling up too hard on the shifter may damage the forks on the other end of it, the arm itself is made out of aluminum. | | | 12-20-2006, 06:33 PM | #14 | Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Sterling, VA Posts: 36 | i still can't get it off, but thanks a ton for all the input. i'm gonna try the "from the back seat in fourth" idea next. should i have someone hold in the clutch or does that matter? what would mcgyver do? | | | 12-20-2006, 06:39 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Berlin, Germany Posts: 258 | mcgyver would quit being afraid of damaging his clutch/shifter/mechanism and just pull *has bent tire iron removing lug before* __________________ | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
