Would anyone be interested in renting it? I also have the latest CEL code reader that I'd be willing to rent too. http://www.peakeresearch.com/code_tool.htm __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 01-20-2006, 03:06 AM | #2 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | If or when i am in the need for it i'd rent it. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 01-20-2006, 03:49 AM | #3 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | here's my thinking: the code reader is nice to have around so i'd buy it myself the SRS reset tool would be nice to have the club own and could be loaned or rented out. don't know if we have the funds for this or not. unfortunately, i can foresee the tool not being returned and not sure what would be done in that situation. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 01-20-2006, 03:53 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | There are people on bf.c that rent them out. I guess I can see the need for recouping the money. I wouldn't mind laying out the money and simply having a thread that keeps track of who has it. Part of me says it would be open only to site supporters. There could also be a deposit that is returned once the next person receives it in working order. But it's Dusten's call. Edit: There could even be a checkout basket on the website. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-20-2006, 04:03 AM | #5 | doesn't care about you. The rental idea is good as far as I'm concerned... | | | 01-21-2006, 01:28 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Lincoln Park Capitol Hill, Washington DC Posts: 741 | I just saw the other thread also and have been thinking of something like this the last few months. I'm IN! I will definitely rent (not buy) a SRS/CEL reset tool. Where do I sign up for deposit? As for deposit, I think a one time deposit and returnable when a person leaves or ceases to pay to support this site. It might simplify the process. __________________ It's always a great day to be underwater and play with the fish.....preserve our oceans and reefs" Fariz 1997 318ti, Hellrot (Bright Red), Dinan Stage 2 Chip 16x7 OEM sport Wheels/X-Brace/Custom Strut Brace/Cold Air Intake/M-Tec Steering Wheel/Koni Adjustable FrontShocks/ Bilstein Sport Rear Shocks /H&R Sport Springs/Custom fabricated strut tower brace/Rear Strut brace, Stromung Exhaust Future Mods: E46 17" wheels or Kosei K-1 17x8.5s | | | 01-21-2006, 01:35 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Details will be posted soon. Posts: 3,156 | If you reset the CEL, it can take several hours of driving and/or starting and stopping the engine for the error to clear. I did this same thing: re-installed the secondary air pump, re-set the lights, drove to inspection. The car passed, the light remained off, but I was warned by the inspector that when you re-set directly before teting, the errors can still show... Do it the day before, or a couple days before to be safe. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
