Default Back in the E36 saddle again!

Hi, My name is Dave and I just purchased a 1997 318ti. This makes my third E36 over the years and It's fun to get back to a car I can actually work on without a master's degree in computer science LOL! The previous owner bought it from another person who replaced the head gasket and never finished putting the upper end back together. It's been sitting for over a year like that but the body is super solid (for Indiana) and the interior is a 8/10. I'm debating whether to eliminate all the unknowns and just pull the engine for a full rebuild or slap the top half back together, and hope for the best. It only has 89,000 on it and I picked it up for $300.00. I'm strongly leaning toward just pulling it, replacing the bearings, rings, and valve seals before putting it all back together. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the adventure. I'm sure I'll be on here for more info and entertainment.
