Help!

I owned by 318TI for 3 months now - This is the second time that I am taking my car in for repair.

The problem - the gas guage and temperature gauge no longer work, if I step on the brake - they work for few moments. My mechanic fixed saying that there was a "hole" in a circuit board that he replaced a month ago. He states that he never seen this and not sure why this is happening.

Now, the same problem is back.

Has anyone experience this? solutions?

Thanks

Joan

That is a new one.
I have heard of gas sender units going bad but not the gauges.

I have had my ti since November of 04 and i have had problems with the gas gauge and the tacometer. I had just filled up and the gas gauge suddenly went from full to empty but the car was completely full of gas. I turned the car off then back on and it worked fine.
As for the tac. I have had it just completely quite on me (go dead) but the car runs fine then. I have been in mid drive and have it quite then come back on 10 mins later. Both the gas and tac are finky sometimes they will go completely dead then come rigth back on it is very strange.

Now i'm having problems with my radio it is competely dead I thought it was a fuse then one day i was driving and it suddenly came back on for about 1 min then died again. All and all i'm kind of scared what kind of a money pit i got my self into hehehe.

i would start checking for grounding or shorting problems. perhaps look at the bentley manual wiring diagrams and see where the failing items share connections and start tracing. good luck ... as steven said, these are new ones i've not seen posted here!

I had the same problem with my gas gauge, after filling up my gas gauge was going to empty for about 20 to 25 miles. If I fill up too much, the problem comes back. If I stop at the first click the gas gauge works fine.

I was advised by my mechanic that the floater near to the tank is getting stuck if I fill up all the way to the top. To replace the floater you are looking at $115 for the part and $65 for labor. I hope this helps.

Default Thanks Mendi3 one more question

Thanks for the information regarding the gas gauge.

I have an additional question regarding my radio. Do you think it is a fuse that needs to be replaced. It has died and only came back on once and has been dead ever since. If it had completely died i would have thought it was a fuse but being that it came back on i'm concerned it maybe something else.

If it is a wiring problem do u think it is better to take it too the dealer or a car stero speciality shop?
