the stock 328 fat ear starter is in there right now. I have a 91 E30 starter on the m44, which also has the fat ears

I would check how the starter is wired before replacing it.

Show us some pictures of the engine bay main the connections to the fuse box and the DME.

Would the motor not start if I do not have the little black box that connects to the ring antenna (from the donor 328)? I onoly have the EWS module that goes behind the glove box

You don't need the black box, I don't even know what that is. Your EWS module was a white brick with a green sticker that says EWSII on it right?

Use the original black module and antenna from your ti. Use the ECU, WHITE EWS module, and key chip from the donor vehicle. The black module has to match the ring antenna and the white box has to match the key chip and ECU. Marv17 had the same problem, you don't swap out the black EWS module or the antenna.

These are the only parts you need to swap out:

What I'm saying is that if you swapped out the black box or antenna ring that you posted a picture of, your car will not start.
