Default Need help please, 18" wheels for a 1997 318ti (an additional question please!)

Hi guys,

I'm looking for an upgrade on wheels + tyres for my 1997 318ti. I've seen some people use 18" M3 wheels on their 318ti, but I'm wondering if it requires fender mod. Mine is a stock standard 318ti, unlowered. Besides, if 18" wheels are possible for my car, what size of tyres should I go for the 18" wheels then? Thanks for your help!!!

no fender modification is required if the offset is around ET45, I'd go with a 40 series tire in whatever width the rim takes

log on to tirerack.com and enter the 318ti----then look up 18" wheels and it will show you what rim width and offset (usually 35-42) will fit, along w the appropriate tire size to select. an 8" rim width w 225 tires, w the correct
profile, should be ok.

Thanks for your help guys. Just got an additional question please. I saw a good deal on ebay for M3 look wheels + tyres, but the tyres come in 235 40R17. Are they too wide for the 318ti without front fender mod?

those should be good, I've got 225 width tires on 18"s and there's plenty of extra room

I have a 95 318ti with ADR 78 Sterling 18" wheels with 225/40/18 tires and they work great. I am also interested in trading them for a set of BMW wheels, closer to the original size that came on my car. If anyone is interested or knows someone who might be, let me know. This is a link to the wheels I have http://www.adrwheels.com/brand_detai...finish&ino=381

no you dont need any fender modifications only if you get 19" but this isnt the case you can also go for 18" staggered fitment and you'll b perfectly fine
