E36 330ti

I bought this Arktissilber Ti from a friend last year and haven't had much time to work on it. I bought it with no compression so the M44 is toast. This thread will chronicle its return to life and improvements.

Months later I was given an Oxford Grun (I call it GrunTi, do you see what I did there?)

GrunTi and the riding with BMW_Hatchback in his Ti for a quick spin around the neighborhood has convinced me that I need to pull my Arktis car out of storage and get my low mile M54B30 into it, and fast.

I've heard mention of a guy by the name of Frank having the knowledge of this swap. Can anyone point me in the right direction for finding him?

The build will feature an M54B30 with 86K miles, a ZF 6 Speed Manual Transmission. Stay tuned.

Welcome Alco. Looking forward to following your build. I don't know Frank but I do know M54 swaps have been done. The dual vanos and electronic throttle make things a little more complicated but it has been done.

Regarding your mod list...

-Z3 1.9 Rack - Solid upgrade. I have had luck finding low mileage used racks on eBay.

-Medium Case 3.46S - Also eBay. Since you're going with a 6 speed I would go with a 3:73.

-E46 330i Front Brakes (calipers, carriers, rotors) - Also a great upgrade, I have 330 brakes on my Clubsport. Pick up a set of calipers and carriers on eBay, rebuild them and use new pads and rotors.

-E36 M3 Mirrors (Arktissilber) - 4 door M3 only.

-E36 XBrace - eBay also, paint, install nutserts into the front subframe and go.

-Bimmerworld E30 Rear Swaybar - Z3 M rear bar is a cheaper

-Turner Motorsports Front Sway Bar (E36) - all of the adjustable E36 non-M sways are basically the same.

-E30 Koni Yellow Rear - There are ti specific rear Koni's that work fine.

-E36 Koni Yellow Front

-H&R Race Springs - My CS is on Koni's and H&R race springs. Nice set up.

-Z3 3 Row Radiator - S54 Z3 M radiators were not 3 row. They were thicker single row radiators but shorter to accommodate for the oil cooler S54 cars have. A good upgrade however, around 10% more capacity.
