There is a OBC retrofit kit (wiring only). The wiring is somewhat involved, but not impossible. You'll need a new OBC to replace the clock. It give you outside temp, MPG, and ave MPH. You will need a new turn signal stalk to control it. If you get the OBC and stalk from a wrecker and the wiring from a discount dealer, it not too expensive. Maybe $100-150 tops. Is it worth it. Depends. For me, I just had to do it, just for the fun of it. | | | 03-26-2005, 10:23 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: CARLISLE/UK Posts: 6 | 318ti sport compact clock/temp gauge cheers for reply.i have the obc and external temp sensor.i will get the stalk next.if you could help me with the wireing i would be very gratefull. | | | 03-26-2005, 10:50 PM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: CARLISLE/UK Posts: 6 | do you know were i can get the retrofit wiring kit from? | | | 03-26-2005, 11:12 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Walnut Creek, CA Posts: 642 | The wiring is a kit. Part number 61-12-9-405-244 is $41.46 from Nick Alexander BMW in Los Angeles with BMW CCA discount. BTW, this place has some of the best prices for BMW parts. Something on the order of cost + 20%, plus 10% CCA discount. Can't beat that. | | | 03-26-2005, 11:21 PM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: CARLISLE/UK Posts: 6 | many thanks mate. | | | 05-18-2005, 08:47 PM | #7 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2005 Posts: 11 | OBC Upgrade Can the wiring be easily removed from the car pulling the OBC and signal stalk from or is it just better to get the wiring kit? | | | 05-18-2005, 09:08 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Walnut Creek, CA Posts: 642 | It would be easier to get the kit. I asume that is a BMW part #? Where should the other end of the wiring attach? Does it go right from the OBC to the signal stock? Funny I just bought the signal stock and OBC thinking that was all I needed for the upgrade then notice the connector difference on the OBC. Glad I found this thread. I also bought the alarm/remote lock module. I'm about to install it too. Mine were cyt. I asume there should be a connector on the other end? Would I be able to use the wires coming off my existing signal stock or would there be less wires on it? Many thanks Fred | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
