auto s50 or s54

ive asked this before but never got an answer, i have an automatic 96 ti.
i want to keep my ti automatic for now im looking into swaping a s50 or s52. my question is.. do i need to swap the transmission too? do i need to find a auto s50 or s52 with a autotrans? or is it a straight up bolt on kinda project where i can keep my stock auto trans from my 96 ti and just swap in the engine?

not 100% sure but i think u can keep the stock tranny, but i would go with the m3 auto tranny just to be safe

I believe the stock getrag is fine up till ~300 hp. I am pushing 270 with mine and it's just fine. M5 clutch and lightweight flywheel (11.5lbs) with M3 pressure plate does wonders.
