Default My dream build: M44 S/Ced over 300hp. part list help

Hi, my best dream is to build a M44/M42 hybrid engine that can past 300hp without affidability issues. I have never built a engine, so for now I'm reading books, tis, bentley and all things for know how remove all parts from the engine.
I'm starting to make a dream parts list, if you want help me please write here. I need to complete the list for see how much money I'll need for it.
It's only a dream now, I'm not building it, not soon for sure

DREAM BUILD LIST UPDATED

Dream specs:

BORE 86 mm
STROKE 88 mm
DISPLACEMENT 2089 cc
REV LIMITER 7100
POWER over 301 hp
TORQUE over 300Nm
BOOST 8 psi supercharger eaton M62
CR 8 :1

So I'll start questions...
1) What are critical points in the M44 block that can't reach 7500rpms? (here a great tuner have a chip for M44 that raise rev-limit to 7100, and it is a great tuner, not joking)
2) Why some people says that M47N crank don't fit? What are differences with M47 crank?
3) what cams should use?

^all calculations are made with Turbo Fast/TurboCalc^

The engine should be strenght enought for 330hp, eventually ready for a twincharger (eaton+ turbo)

Let's start to dream

err, dont really know how to put this but you are'nt going to get more than 190hp at the most. 225bhp is the max i'm afraid for the 1.9. what do you want to be competetive against? from there i can lead you, but it is'nt going to involve an m44. you have a really nice car from what i can see, why dont you get a 2nd car for blasting around in? not a FIAT(fu**ing insult to the automotive trade) or alfa (it's posh cousin). more like an m3, or audi 1.8t.
the thing is recently, BMW have always built their engines to the highest specification possible, hence the upgrade from the m42 1.8 to the m44 1.9. you are always going to feel pissed off at what you do to your engine, as it wont make any difference in hp. the 1.8 was replaced to a 1.9 for fuel effiencey not for performance, check the statistics. the only thing you can do is get a re-map, or go for the top end 225bhp, with forced induction. nobody on this site has gone above that yet!

and by the way a twincharged example would have to have 250hp+ before any sort of eaton/garret T3* combination to reach 330hp!!!!

Metric Mechanic change only pistons, piston pin, rod, main bearings, rod bearings, worked m44 cyl head, cams, valve springs, retainers, special hydro lifters, ss head gasket, head bolts, cams.

The MM version of 250hp is different from their 350hp version only for displacement and hotter cams... no other mods

If I'll build this I'll buy a spare engine for sure
From the M44 I want to use only the block, the head is from m42 and fully reworked for better flow...

-what are bigger diameter valves that can be fitted onto a m42 head?

I'm starting to spam the metric mechanic email

first of all. read his post, try to understand his English, next read the link. He is pushing displacement to 2.11L. And idk where u got that 225bhp number MM makes 260hp engines. based of the m42/4 platform.

I can't see getting to the goal with a SC, the Eatons just aren't made for that kind of boost. (They can do it but efficiency drops way down as well as life, normal operating boost limits are < 8 psi)

I can totally see a 300 HP engine if you:
1. Euro crank from deisel to ge the 2.1 stoker.
2. Top end pistons (IE JE, Weisco Etc.) AND Head parts Ti valves likely.
3. Turbo/Intercooler
4. Standalone ECU to replace the factory unit. (Motec, Electromotive, FAST)
5. Pay a top flight builder to assemble it! It doesn't matter how good you are, a race engine builder will build you a better motor because he has ALL the tools and cares about the result as well as having done it enough to not make mistakes.
6. The cam need not be that radical if your running a turbo, they actually like the grinds most EFI engines use.

Budget:
Long Block - My builder would likely be into it for about 5500 to 7500 $ US Balanced blueprinted 8.4:1 compression, full seal rings etc.
Turbo - the system I am installing on a Merkur XR4ti right now is:
Turbo - $750 To3/4 Hybrid from Turbonetics.
Wastegate - 300
Bypass/Blowoff valve - 300
Electromotive - $1700 You WILL NOT ever get the stock ECU to beat a standalone. Even BMW doesn't use their own computer on full race applications.
Plumbing - $800 (Oil cooler and water and Inter-cooler piping with me doing the fab work.)
Inter cooler - 1200 bucks, large custom unit made to sandwich with the radiator to avoid too much tub hacking.

If you want max power and longevity a dry sump system is in order, add another $2500 to $3000 US....

BTW the lowly little 2.3 in the Merkur turned 480HP at the rear wheels Before I did the dry sump the new inter cooler and the new turbo plumbing. On a dyno run by experts not a hack tunning shop.
I fully expect to see 550 on the next run....

The financial math is left to the masochistic requirements of the reader.

Glad I'm spending someone else's money.....

Dave

Not sure why people don't think an M42 can put down some serious power. Built S14s are in the 250+ crank HP range.

Pushing the limits of the m44 and m42 should be encouraged. Keep up posted. No need to tell us it can't be done, we've all heard it before.

And considering that 666 seems to do some very nice fab work all you really need to build up a bad ass m4x engine is a good tuner, and a good builder to put it all together for you. 666 can fab up the custom parts needed as they are experienced with our cars and engines.
