I'm probably going to either trade it in for a different ti or make a moon roof out of the top. Sunroofs and convertibles don't excite me enough to want to take care of one either. | | | 09-06-2006, 12:36 AM | #62 | islander on the mainland Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: SF Bay Area Posts: 286 | Quote: Originally Posted by theinfiniteface The tracking is jammed so I can't even pry it back, the motor needs to be replaced, and someone tried putting in the wrong bolt previously so a whole new thread would have to be drilled because its stripped. I had broken ribs inside the canvas, scratches across the top, and then my motor died on me. So, I replace the whole unit and things have been great. It's too bad it didn't work out for you. __________________ moku 1996 318ti Cali Top w/ Downing/Atlanta Supercharger 2003 M3 w/ CSL trunk, splitters, & diffuser | | | 09-06-2006, 01:26 AM | #63 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Northern VA Posts: 14 | I just purchased a 1996 California Package for my first real car (I'm 17) I am absolutely loving it so far. Does anybody have any cleaning suggestions for it? There are some brown stains onthere that I'd like to get rid of. | | | 09-06-2006, 04:43 AM | #64 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Hawaii Posts: 25 | Quote: Originally Posted by moku Sounds like you got a bad top when you bought it. A whole new replacement was pretty expensive from what I remember anyways... | | | 09-06-2006, 07:01 PM | #65 | islander on the mainland Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: SF Bay Area Posts: 286 | Quote: Originally Posted by theinfiniteface How much did that run you? I was able to score my unit for about $1600 from the dealer after I used my BMWCCA membership discount. It was a chunk of change, but it's made a big difference in my top. Plus, I would think that the Cali top would be even mo' bettah in Hawaii. __________________ moku 1996 318ti Cali Top w/ Downing/Atlanta Supercharger 2003 M3 w/ CSL trunk, splitters, & diffuser | | | 09-14-2006, 05:02 PM | #66 | Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Dublin Posts: 66 | Quote: Originally Posted by theinfiniteface I've got a Cali top and I hate it.
