Best of luck with the interview next week! Hey, just a thought here... maybe a dumb one, but here goes. I've heard a lot of computer programmers that I know talk about how they were asked to solve some issue during the interview as a way of demonstrating their programming skills. So, I wonder it might be useful for you to pick one of the known issues with the 318ti and come up with a solution? E.g., redesign the window regulator so that it's not so problematic. So, yeah... just a thought. JMJ __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! Now pass it on!!!" You won't get the job but I would appreciate it. BTW if you do get the job you owe me a Z4 for the fantastic advice I gave (earlier). __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 03-15-2007, 11:30 PM | #18 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | (LOL @ 96cali ) And if you get the job due to my suggestion, you owe me the opportunity to test the prototype of your re-design. :-D __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! Thank him for the continued interest and the prospect of an opportunity. You may also want to include wanting to get to work on the window regulators (showing a bit of self-drive, no pun intended). __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 03-16-2007, 02:20 AM | #20 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | LOL nice of course i can do that for you! for the longest time (since junior year of highschool) ive pretty much had my sights set on mechanical engineering at NC State and getting a co op with BMW so i could design a functional window regulator for the 318ti compacts....lol however i feel its probalby not a top priority for them at the moment! thanks for the tips guys...i went to a job interview workshop tonight that the NC State career center put on and i am feeling a lot more comfortable and confident heading into the interview! __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 03-21-2007, 07:41 PM | #21 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | well i had the interview today! it went well...when asked what i would do if i didnt have to work and didnt have to worry about money (office space-ish), i responded 'id put an m3 engine in my 318ti'...she laughed and said it was the first time shes heard that response. the interview was really low key and casual, and since i have a few connections, i pretty much knew i was going to be alright for this pre screening interview type thing, which definently helped me ease my nerves a bit. i am past the first round of interviews.....april 4th i am road tripping to greenville for an on site interview and then by april 5th i will find out if i get an offer (which hopefully i will) then i interview with department heads to find out where i would fit in best. through my connections (my mom works with the dean of the NC State college of engineering, who knows a few people at BMW), i already have had 1 department head contact me even b efore this initial interview today (he wanted to get a head start on recruiting me for his department) and he has 'expressed interest' in me to the people i am interviewing with so basically he told them he wants me for his department. im not saying i got this position on lock yet...that would still be silly with or without connections, but it really is reassuring knowing some high rollers in the deans office __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 03-22-2007, 12:17 AM | #22 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Ireland Posts: 382 | congrats man... lol for the m3 answer... i reckon that got ye a few brownie points.... __________________ ............................. ..........1999 318iS Coupe..........
