Default Oil pressure sender?????

Anyone with an M3 swap, I have a question. My car is running perfectly fine. I was just got done installing a blackout grill and when I was just looking around the engine compartment, I notice something unusual. It’s not really unusual but something I'm not familiar with. When I was looking at the oil filter holder, behind it was the Oil pressure switch. It made me curious because nothing was connected to it. Is the switch supposed to be connected to anything? Just for my curiosity, can anyone with a M3 swap answers my question?
