After 4 years of driving my ti I finally bought a new car, now I need to sell this thing. I know this is a hard question to answer, but what is my car worth? Factory options: 1998 318ti M-Tech Sport package Black on Black 5spd Cruise Sunroof On-board computer Factory window sticker Aftermarket Options: Downing Atlanta Supercharger Ebaich Sport Springs Ebaich Sway bars Short shift kit LSD rear diff from a 1995ti Drilled front rotors, braided brake lines 4 17x8.5 M3 contour wheels (bought 2 stagered sets+combined them) 4 stock 16" alloys with snow tires Condition: 135k miles Clean body, a few door dings, no rust, small dings on a-pillar from vandalism Clean interior, no rips or tears Runs and drives great, no major leaks, does not drip in garage Needs windshield Check engine light on from air pump, clear it and it comes on in 3-4 days Summer tires are at 10% life left Winter tires are at 50% life left Sun roof broken. I never use it anyway One of the contours has a deep 3-4" curb rash, but ballances well The car is in Broomfield Colorado, and I plan on listing it on this site, on Craigslist, and maybe ebay. What do you think it's worth? $4,500 without contours, $5,000 with? Am I dreaming? | | | 10-06-2009, 11:45 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Moved from the for sale section. >>Sun roof broken. I never use it anyway<< Maybe someone else will use it. Depending on a buyers location, broken windshield and CEL is enough to fail inspection. What does no major leaks mean? Minor seepage from transmission? A car is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Personally, I would not want a fixer upper. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 10-07-2009, 12:01 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: LA, Bellflower, CA Posts: 3,613 | well maybe with all the little issues fixed it'd be worth a solid $5k. But in my opinion I'd offer you less because the fact that I have to invest money to fix it and the time would bring the value down a bit. But thats just my opinion. Would have to state when the DASC was rebuilt if it ever was. Read its recommended every 5k or 10k miles? not sure on exact numbers. The CEL light would have to be resolved for someone to be able to register it under their name and such after inspection. and the few body damages would be a bit of money to fix. But with all those little things being gone, I think it'd be worth $6.5k however due to the slow economy it'll probably take a bit to sell... took Noah almost a year to sell his DASC'd ti. __________________ -Theta Chi- Float like a cadilac, sting like a BIMMER .... my socket is just too thick and won't fit in the hole! damnit! | There may be minor seepage somewhere, the car does have 135k on it, but I am not aware of any leaks. Certainly nothing that would justify adding fluid. Dowing Atlanta told me they have had customers go "hundreds of thousands" without needing a rebuild. Anyway, I appreciate the input. | | | 10-07-2009, 02:11 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: LA, Bellflower, CA Posts: 3,613 | Quote: Originally Posted by chrissummit Rebuild the supercharger every 5-10k miles? I actually just put a head gasket on it about 6k miles ago, after the plastic coolant fitting on the back of the head failed on the highway and it overheated just enought to cause a slight head gasket leak. Thanks for your help. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
