Default Thinking of a 98 318ti

Hello guys,
My wife has this friend that wants to sell her 98' 318ti for $10.000.
I went and looked at it today and saw a few problems with it and thought you guys could give me some advice.

50.000 miles california car, one owner.
Balck & black int.
Auto
Body xlt, couple of paint chips.

The light for the odometer is out? Can see the miles ect and it seems that the LCD is operating.
The Check engine light is on, she said she went to her mechanic and she forgot what he said but she thinks it was a 02 sensor.
The car is clean and I'm just woundering about thease two things.
Any input on these two problems and anything elese to look for would be great.
Thank you

Scott

I just replaced the same odomoter bulb you need. Wasn't too hard and cost like $5 from BavAuto.com.

If it's oxygen sensor then it's most likely the one before the catalyst I'd expect. I've seen 'em under $100 on Bimmerzone.com and you can change it yourself with or without a $20 tool available on BavAuto.com.

Mrnine,
Thanks for the info, sounds easy.
Do you happen to know how to tell if this car is a active, sport or?
Thanks again,
Scott

Can you post a link to a picture or put one in the gallery? There are many differences, fastest and surest way is to post a pic of the exterior front back and inside.

The car is a dog with an Auto but great fun with a manual trans. I would have the engine checked out re: engine light. It could be an O2 sensor which is minor repair. Could be other things which are not so minor nor cheap. Also have car checked for straight frame and collision issues.

Being a CA car is very positive, assuming it has always been so. Run a car fax!

Best of luck.

Well.
I have bought it, got it for $9500. I will not be able to pick it up for a couple of weeks as I am going to be down in Baja for the 1000. (I race offroad cars).
Looking forward in getting info from you guys here.
Thanks
Scott
