Honestly, I'd avoid buying the cheap aftermarket mirrors.. There are fitment issues as well as build quality issues with the cheap knockoffs. If you do buy knock-offs, make sure they have a return policy so that when you find out they have a gap or don't fit just right you can return them if you want. Nothing looks worse to me than cheap parts that kind of look like original parts, but don't fit right. But that is my opinion, and I'm sure you will find people that part aftermarket mirrors that fit perfect. Just know what you are buying. Try to find some OE parts in a junkyard, or watch bimmerforums.com or one of the other forums for BMWs as you will find a lot of cars being parted out. | | | 12-29-2006, 06:34 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Austin, TX Posts: 250 | __________________ | | | 12-29-2006, 07:01 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: atlanta Posts: 145 | I can't tell if that has the plastic or metal base. Good price, if w/metal base. Do you happen to know? I might email these guys to find out if you don't know off hand. EDIT - I called and they advised it was the plastic base. The black piece behind the slightly darker plastic base is a metal plate. They take returns if someone decides to test it out, but personally I think I'll hold off for a pair of used OEM versions. eBay has a vendor selling units with a complete metal base that "appears" close to OEM but he takes "NO RETURNS" and still expects to get $160. His feedback is good, but my luck is that I'd be the one stuck with a bad unit. His reason for no returns is that he's just a re-seller and quality is a manufacturing issue. My telecom customers would laugh me out of their offices if I tried to pull that one. BTW, ours will take the 4 door. | | | 12-29-2006, 11:43 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Lawton, Oklahoma Posts: 110 | Quote: Originally Posted by Exercitus_Ranger | Does anyone know the quality of these mirrors and which mirrors the TI takes> 2 door or 4 door? Funny how things work sometimes. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
