Default Got a TI!!

Convinced my parents to let me get a TI (they paid for part of it).

1998 318ti Active

It's nice, this morning (first full day of having it) some guy in a Chevy Cobalt SS tried to race me or something cause he came flying down the right lane at high RPMs and then slowed down after he got by me. On the next stretch of straight road with 2 lanes, I tried to stay even with him and I did for the first maybe 15 seconds, then he slowly pulled ahead. With a 0-60 of 6.4 on his, my ti doesn't seem like an upper 8 sec car. It had one mod when I bought it (that I could tell) -- ANSA sport exhaust.

It's got 92332 miles on it now, and I get around 39 mpg driving conservatively. I am extremely impressed with it. It handles great and is incredibly fun to drive, even at low speeds. All I need now is new tires!!

Thanks guys for the recommendations in the "Thinking" forum.

I'll take some pics the first nice day after it gets a nice wash + wax.

Well congrats on your purchase and just an fyi with that exhaust you probally didn't gain any performance. I mean it added maybe 1hp and that shouldn't drop your 0-60 time,if anything it took off a 10th of a second of of your time.

So, to beat a Cobalt SS, you need a DASC.

I looked a little deeper into the car and it seems that it came with drilled front rotors, a K&N filter, and maybe software (definately seemed torquey for such a small motor).

Did this ('98 Active) come with drilled front rotors? As I said before, I'll wash + wax and take 20-30 pics of it in good light when it gets nice over here.

Here's my baby's profile from the dealership where I bought it from: http://www.europeanmotorwerks.com/de...8ti/Hatchback/

It didnt come stock with it. And if you havent driven a TI before, it will seem torquier than you would think initially. I want from the E30 318 SOHC 1.8L (I believe M10 engine), to the E36 318ti DOHC 1.9l M44. Its a whoooolleeee different world the DOHC makes. For 1.9L, these things put out some nice HP.

Woot! I actually noticed today that the "BMW" logo fell off my right front wheel. Anyone know how I can get a new one?

you mean the center cap fell off? They are available on e-bay and probably at the dealer (though I've never looked for them there).
