Default Retractable Antenna

Anybody know if there is a better antenna for the Ti than the stock one? I have just bought a Kenwood head unit and wondering if I should replace the antenna too. The factory radio gets lousy AM reception and poor FM reception where I live.

So, figured that a newer head unit would perhaps get better reception than the stock, but think that the short rubber antenna we have is part of the problem.

Going to the installer today to check out the process and would like to know if I should work on getting a power retractable antenna (longer antenna = better reception?) or if the stock one is adequate.

I also have a cd changer that taps into the antenna to play the cd's thru a FM channel, I'll bet it reduces the antenna effectiveness.

Thanks in advance.

You may have to replace the antenna grommet. The wires can fray over time, deteriorating reception. I've driven through your area and my reception was fine (though, this was back in '03).

Length does have a lot to do with reception, but the stock antennas are wound. All the radio wave sees is the total length; it doesn't matter the configuration.
