Default Antenna base vs antenna grommet

I'm wondering if somebody can clarify something for me:

I managed to snap off the antenna while cleaning snow off my car (I suspect it was already broken). I need to know what part I need to replace.

It looks like the part that the antenna whip screws onto broke off (plastic piece with a hex nut). Is this part of the antenna base or is it part of the antenna grommet? Is it possible to replace the plastic piece only or do I need to replace the entire antenna base?

Thanks!

I replaced the grommet before its all hard rubberized plastic. There's nuthing on it that screws. There's another piece under the grommet. A ball that the antenna screws into. That ball piece is gonna be what you want not the $1.50 grommet.

The grommet is a separate part. You need the base. Also replace the grommet while you are doing that.

You don't think you can drill a small hole and remove the stuck portion of he antenna?

I took the thing apart this afternoon. The top part of the antenna base (#1 in the link) is broken off -- I suspect it was previously broken. The mast is still intact. The antenna grommet is also looking worn. I guess I'm going to have to replace the base.

Bav Auto is asking over $100 for the part. Anybody know a cheaper source?

Also, is the coax connector on the end of the antenna cable a fairly standard part? The connector was rusted to the antenna base. I think I managed to break it getting the two pieces apart.
