A buddy of mine did that with his 944 wheels. Actually, he was restoring them but the same principle applies. You have to use something to remove the clearcoat before you apply the black, my friend used an aircraft paint remover. Use gloves and a respirator if you go this route. Then he polished the lip using a scotchguard pad, then wet sandpaper. Had the car jacked up with it idling to save elbow grease--not really smart, but we were all around when he was doing this.
