Default Replaceing the hatchback brake Light bulb.

Does anyone know how to detach the houseing for the rear view brake light at the top of the hatch back? I want to take it off and change the light bulb because it has gone out, and I don't want to take it to my local dealer to have them change it when I can do that myself I have tried to take it off but I don't want to break it trying to change the bulb it feels like it is attached to some clip or something I need some help with this please. thanks

you mean the 3rd brake light?

have you removed the trim pieces? after that the bulbs are just a 1/4 turn to replace.

Have you pulled off the big cover from the inside of the glass? It sounds terrible when you're pulling on it, and it feels like you're going to break something, but it won't. There are metal tabs on that cover that plug into the plastic reflector, and that's what sounds bad when it moves. After that is off the bulbs just turn and come out.
