(Like broken bulb and such). Just Curious if it can be installed in a 318ti? Thanks! =D Also, I plan to go to a junk yard and find one :P not ebay! | | | 11-19-2006, 07:56 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: SoCal Posts: 549 | Off the top of my head... No. 318ti's don't use the same dashboard layout as the coupes/sedans. So there's no actual cutout for that huge thing in our dashes. __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 11-19-2006, 08:02 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Clearwater, Florida Posts: 153 | I see, thanks! =D Might as well visit the junkyards! 130$ for something I could pass off for like 10$ at a junkyard seems pretty good! Also, how does the 318OBC react like? does it show MPG/Miles/anything worth of saying? | | | 11-19-2006, 08:06 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | The Ti has a OBC that in the place of the standard clock. IMO The Ti was the step away from the gagets like that and back to a real motoring car like the e30 M, 2002tii, 328 and 315 roadster..not the hyper-tech of the 7ser and now almost the whole line of BMW. you can swap in a 3ser dash for the (cleaner IMO) Ti dash, if you want to try to rig in that large OBC. IMO they are just glorified idiots lights, and alot of M3s I've ridden in, have just weird error messages on all the time from brake lights to various other stuff...I don't know if I would waste my time with it. | | | 11-19-2006, 08:24 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Clearwater, Florida Posts: 153 | Ah, I see. Okay! So, really a waste to even try to wire it for the 318? But quick question, what does the OBC in the 318ti do? Like I assume MPG but what else? (still planning that visit =D) | | | 11-19-2006, 08:47 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | the TI obd gives you: Clock Outside Air temp Miles to empty Miles per gallon Average miles per hour I don't recall any other information. Anyone tried fiddling with the ti obd? I've got various things up but can't change the temp to degrees C from F. Even the local dealership haven't a clue how to change it. __________________ E36/5 '95 318ti Auto.
