I heard that the m3 strut mounts lower the front about 1/2". If these are used in conjunction with new springs/struts, would it affect the height in the front, or does it just mean that the struts won't be as compressed all the time? I also heard that m3 control arms & the solid bushing helps handling. I also heard that urethane subframe bushings & the butt-strut help. Fatter tires and a strut bar would probably help too, huh? Is there anything else that I'm not aware of? Also, which ones would be the most cost-effective? | | | 02-12-2006, 02:48 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Lincoln Park Capitol Hill, Washington DC Posts: 741 | For the money, since you already have the X brace and LSD; go shocks and struts all around and replace the rear shock mounts with stronger aftermarket ones. As with control arms you want to eventually replace them, and E30 parts are cheaper and stronger than stock. Lowering with a nice set of Koni's and some higher # spring rates would be good too. I would say to stay away from the lowering cap type of things and do it the real way. Tires are the single biggest factor in handling. They are the car's only contact with the road. If you want seriously good handling get some of the highetst performance summer tires. If you want really good track handling buy a second set of wheels and put on the R-comp tires. | | | 02-12-2006, 07:41 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Tyler, TX Posts: 1,022 | Like alaska blue said, tires are the best thing you can do to make your car handle better. The most perfectly corner weighted, neutral handling car in the world will be worthless on a set of Deluxe Thriftsaver 4000s. | | | 02-12-2006, 07:44 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | Im getting the M3 bushings and a strut bar, but I would go for shocks and springs if you dont have them. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
