I run Amsoil and big difference. I think all quality oil make a big difference. I run Mobil 1 15-50w in the motor, Amsoil everywhere else

Finally got around to doing this last night. I now understand why it's called the bitch clip. Night and day difference in the way the car shifts and feels driving. almost no play in the shifter now, works like new.

Glad to hear it 47driver.. this is still on my todo wish list.. but Its cold and not enough money.. and bigger drive train fishes to fry ... but nice to know it makes a notable difference.. I was looking at it the other day wondering if the "slop" was a real thing or just they way it is
...do you plan on going with the z3 shifter and did you do the rubber boot/nipple on the trans I am almost certain this is making a horrible shift feeling too you can feel the horrible feeling right at the full length of the gear change and whats the last thing connected to the shifter rod .... you guess'ed it that nipple ..
but I realized there is a step that comes before the shifter too .. a transmission / diff fluid flush.
And when the car is cold at the beginning of the day the gear changes are harder and crappy feeling.. and occasionally the car comes out of gear even though the clutch is down and when you try and push it back in gear its like the clutch has been released and it has not been physically.. and it grinds the tranny !!! ARgh

I reused the stock shifter and replaced parst #4,7,10 and 12 in the below drawing with standard BMW parts. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...13&hg=25&fg=05
I replaced part #2 with the bushings from ECS mentioned in the first post. I followed the directions from the pelican parts tech section of their web site. I completed the job with the drive shaft still in the car, but if I were to do this again i would remove at least the front section for clearance.
