Default Seat heaters?

Do all the seats have heaters in them? If so, how hard would it be to wire it all up and get the heaters to work?

Thanks

nope, if the car doesn't have it, you need to add many pieces to get it. there's a kit bmw offered which are most likely not available any more (search for previous threads on the subject - both for instructions on how to install it and regarding remaining kits). the last ones in the world were coming in from germany. i believe i got the last one that was still in the US.

Humm...looks like this is not going to happen since its not avalable any more. Looks like Im going to have to find someone parting out seats.

Might be kind of tough...I have just bought a red ti with red/black leather interior. They seem to be kind of rare.

I hope some of the parts are still available. My Vaders might have a bad heater pad on the driver's side. So hard to tell if it's working, until it gets really cold.
Anyone have an idea what the resistance of the pad should be, I can do a quick test? On the other hand an inifinitely high resistance would indicate it's kaput. I'll check the connectors for voltage too, but I'm sure the connectors are putting out, since the heated seats worked fine with the stock seats.

i'd just do a continuity test on the pad(s).

I just finished installing the correct seat belt tensioners for my 1998 car (Pyrotechnic style). This should have cleared my SRS light. Turns out the driver's side tensioner is bad.

Anyway, along the way I tested the resistance of the heated seats. Both driver's side pads are bad, measured "open". The passenger pads are fine "6 ohms". That makes sense since my girlfriend said she felt heat on her seat, and I didn't.

Well, I need to order new pads. The driver's side gets more use, so that wasn't shocking.

Just incase someone is curious, I ordered a new seat and backrest heater from Circle BMW.

This is only for the driver's side.
Seat: $62.40
Backrest: $49.80

Funny you ask...it is the same one.

It took me forever and a day to get it but the wait was well worth it. It took probably over a month and a half to get the car inspected and shipped. Of all the Ti's I looked at it is in the best condition. I would give it a 8.5/10. One of the seat bolsters is torn. However, it has leather/cloth and the cloth part is red with small black dots. I have never seen that fabric before so the search for a new seat may take a while.

Outside of the seat and needing some new floor mats, everything is in good shape.

If the car doesn't come with heated seats..... and you swap in power and heated seats.... is the car already pre-wired to allow the seats to just plug and play, or is there wiring that needs to be done?

The car is not prewired. There is little in these cars that are prewired.

I got another question...I have the seats that have the black leater bolster with red fabric that has small black dots. They also have red stiching. Is this the Red Millpoint Club Sport interor? Because if it is, it was only offered in 1995 Sports right?

Then why do I have it my 1998?

Are you the original owner?
Edit: Saw one of your original posts. Previous owner may have swapped them.
I don't recall the Mill Point being offered.

Oh wait. Looking in the 98 brouchure there was a Sport Cloth/Leather interior that was called Millpoint and came in Red or Gray.
