Default Noob thread

Hey guys!

Just bought a 97 Schwartz 318ti and have a heap of questions to ask. But firstly I actually thought this forum had somehow gone down permanently. But I have just discovered via my phone that my IP must be banned or have some kind of issue (which is impossible since I just got the car and haven't been.a.member here before)

Second does anyone have any recommendations on Oem looking single din head units? My stacker is on its way out and making horrible noises.

I have a lot more to ask but I'll be using the search function as soon as.someone explains to me why I can't access this sites from my desktop and laptop.

Thanks in advance!

Title updated. Same provider on each computer? Then I think it's a security setting.
Works with some providers, then you may have the ip address blocked.

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately nothing seems to solve it, it's the only sites I'm experiencing this with which is quite odd. There both using the same broadband network. Turned off my firewall and antivirus, changed my security settings to allow everything and added 318ti.org to the be exempt from any filters, reset modem, cleared all cookies/temp files/dns . And still nothing, weird. I'll just use my phone from now on till I.work it out. Thanks again for the reply.

Welcome to the site! Best advice I can give you is, if the car did not come with a service history, then change out all fluids and filters first thing. Use only BMW coolant, and while I'm on that subject, understand that the cooling system is the weak link of these cars, and all BMW's for that matter. Don't wait for cooling system parts to fail. Overheating your M44 engine almost always results in a blown headgasket, if not a cracked head. Replace the thermostat and waterpump every 60k miles and the radiator at 100K. Likewise 100k for the two plastic coolant pipes. Hoses and connectors as needed or at 150k to be on the safe side. None of the above parts are particularly expensive...consider them cheap insurance. Cheers, John I just noticed that you are live in Australia. Google up Australian Signals and check out their Watchdog Engine Temp Monitor. I have one on my ti and my wife's Z3. Cheers, again.
