Welcome to the site! Best advice I can give you is, if the car did not come with a service history, then change out all fluids and filters first thing. Use only BMW coolant, and while I'm on that subject, understand that the cooling system is the weak link of these cars, and all BMW's for that matter. Don't wait for cooling system parts to fail. Overheating your M44 engine almost always results in a blown headgasket, if not a cracked head. Replace the thermostat and waterpump every 60k miles and the radiator at 100K. Likewise 100k for the two plastic coolant pipes. Hoses and connectors as needed or at 150k to be on the safe side. None of the above parts are particularly expensive...consider them cheap insurance. Cheers, John I just noticed that you are live in Australia. Google up Australian Signals and check out their Watchdog Engine Temp Monitor. I have one on my ti and my wife's Z3. Cheers, again.
