Default black plastic glued between windows?

Anyone have a clever way to remove the black stuff on the door between the front and rear windows? its pealing in places, and id rather it be white (car color) anyway.

Im going to try some combo of heatgun/dryer but thought id ask if someone had done this recently and had a tip or two.

thanks,
-p
