Does the light come back on if you clear the code? Maybe get some MAF cleaner and clean the MAF, see if the light comes back.

yeah, the MAF should be cleaned with oil changes, but no one does it.. haha..

try it, but dont over clean it, u can break it. if nothing, just check the wires, and make sure its plugged in alright, and check your air filter. and check to make sure everything air intake wise is working right. probally a bad senors that needs to be cleaned

If the code says a circuit problem, I'd check the circuit. It's probably not plugged in all the way or perhaps you have a broken wire somewhere. It could be a generic code also, so check the intake boot for cracks or splits.

CEL with P1140. I don't see any cracks in any of the rubber hoses. Could it be something else that's throwing this code besides the MAF sensor?

Thanks.

double check that there isnt any cracks. if your intake boots are really old there might be a crack you just can't see easily. replace it. never hurts to do so. see if the MAF sensor is damaged or not.

look on the internet for help also, looks like code relates to signal problems to the pcm from tp and maf sensors.

I cleaned the MAF and replaced the air filter. Should the CEL turn off automatically if this is the problem (just dirty) or do I need to reset the code?

you'll have to reset the code. do a full run cycle which is about 3 driving cycles, almost like 80 miles or so.

I've done all these things including me replacing the map, tp, ccv. I think its more computer related maybe.

I have this fault code also on my 1998 Ti. The code came up after driving about 50 miles after installing a DASC. However, the car works great. A lot of power now. I did all that was suggested on this site and others, but the light comes back on immediately after start up. I chalk it up to the increased air intake resulting from the supercharger. I am learning to live with the cel on.
