Default Shock Upgrades?

I've got around 76k miles on my 98 Sport and the front shocks are getting really soft. Its starting to feel like I'm riding in my dads Avalon.

So what are the popular shock upgrades for the TI? My rears seem OK, should I replace those at the same time or should I wait for them to wear alittle more?

I'm on a pretty tight budget and I don't even know where to begin with the upgrades.. any suggestions?

Well check on Bav auto, it all depends on what your looking for, the HDs are the easiest to buy because you dont have to change the springs becuase it doesnt change the ride hieght. Sports will lower your car and youll need springs too.

How do either of these compare to the stock Sport suspension?

Have you searched and found Boge, Bilstein and Koni? That will be 99% of all the upgrade experience on this board.

Bonez..

I have a set of Bilistein Sports and a set of Bavauto springs for sale if your interested. They are brand new in the box. I'd prefer local pickup if interested cause i do not have a box to ship these in. Pm me if interested.

I got Bilsteins HD now on and sell Koni Sports for the 318ti.

I like the HDs w/ Mtech Springs, but I am going to try the Koni next just to see.

If you look in BMP Design, this is probably the best deal anywhere:

Not Exactly. Your still paying roughly $550 for the shocks which is about the standard price for a set of bilistein sport shocks. Then you still have to pay shipping so imo this deal is not good at all.

Boge will be the direct replacement for the stock sport suspension. Koni yellow sport adjustables start where the stock sport dampers end. I think the bilstein HD's will be close to stock as well. A good place to start is Bavauto as they sell all of those options I believe and have good phone sales people.

Isn't there another brand called KYC that are cheaper? Maybe it's KFC?

KYB and Tokico(Sp) make Ti Kit IIRC.

Used Tokico on a civic w/ Neuspeeds...was not impressed.

but they are cheap for new sport shocks.

Your rears go before your fronts. I'm going E36 M3 bilstein struts and bilstein sports in the rear pretty soon. I will be using Ground Control custom springs (450/550). I will re-valve the rear shocks probably about 1/5 stiffer. This is with the stock 225/50/16 setup. Don't forget new strut mounts, rear shocks mounts (I'm using the Ground Control version) and I will be doing bushings all around.

If Im just replacing the struts (perhaps Bilstein HDs), do I need to replace anything else?

By the way, has anyone heard of Sachs?

I was looking at importecparts.com, which ive had good experience buying parts from and they offered Sachs as replacements for the M-Tekchnic suspension. Is that what comes on the 98 Sports?

I believe Sachs Boge is the same company and yes those are the direct replacements. You'll want e46 M3 rear shock mounts regardless.
