if the thumping changed when you rotated your tires, its most likely a tire problem like a broken belt. it COULD be a bent wheel, but a thumpy tire is more common. as for the vibration in the steering wheel, its probably warped rotors. replace the pads and rotors and it should go away. i wouldnt recommend having the rotors turned since there isnt much material to begin with. and they are relatively inexpensive. worn ball joints or tie rod ends can make the virbrations worse, so check those out for play while the wheels are off. i had a ball joint fail on me and it was NOT fun! now that i think of it, a thumpy tire like that can make a good deal of vibration in the steering. but since it only happens under braking and your pads are at 1/4, i'd say its the brakes. __________________ Vince Carknard 1995 318ti Active Hellrot, 16" 5 spoke, "Fogged" airbox mod, Stromung exhaust, Bilstein Sports, BMW sport springs, 3.73lsd, others... |
