How long were they on your car? Can I get a quote with shipping to Cincinnati 45227? How would you describe the ride? Could you tell a difference between the settings of the konis (full soft, full stiff)? I've heard the adjustment is something like 10%. The ride is firmer but not to bad on full soft for the street. I would also recommed using the stock shock mount in rear. Solid mount just make it too stiff. Not sure what you mean by the 10 %. Full soft is a firm but not to bad ride. I would say about 25% stiffer than stock with the springs at full soft. Full firm is bone jaring and about 75 % stiffer than stock. You most likely will not use full firm. Full stiff in the rear make the car have too much rotation Or oversteer. As far as the adjustments, the front have a handle you place on the top and twist in or out the firmness you want. Very quick to change. The rear are bottom adjust and you have to compress the strut and Twist ( this can be done on the car, but you have to unbolt the bottom). I have them in the factory boxes. 4 total and I would just about 8 -10 pounds on each box. I live in Des Moines, IA 50317 so I can check on shipping cost. I would imagine the HRs make it a bit stiffer too. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 08-29-2007, 05:22 AM | #5 | doesn't care about you. It should be insured, I think. I know its more than going straight to UPS but it's much easier for me to go this way. I need your address as well. We can do this at pay pal. send me an email to dvanlengen@mchsi.com and I'll send you the pay pal info. | | | 08-30-2007, 07:58 PM | #11 | doesn't care about you. Package everything up in a rubbermaid container and drop it off at UPS. $75 sounds extreme for shipping. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 08-30-2007, 08:23 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | The higher cost probably has to do with shipping 4 different packages. Lets say that the basic price to ship a box is 10$ plus extra fees for weight and size, 6$. That would be 64$. But if you ship one large box at 10$+weight/size fees you might end up only paying 32$. It is almost always cheaper to ship 1 larger box than smaller individual boxes. Of course, when you get into "overweight" items the cost of shipping goes up so that it may be cheaper to send two "lighter" boxes than 1 really really heavy box. | | | 08-31-2007, 05:36 AM | #13 | doesn't care about you. It's more about dimensional than weight. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 08-31-2007, 05:43 AM | #14 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Des Moines, Iowa Posts: 16 | I have them in 3 boxes at work and ready to ship. Just need to close the deal. | | | 08-31-2007, 03:58 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Sorry I PM'd you before seeing these posts but it sounds like the other members agree that shipping fewer boxes is better. Can you please try to consolidate? I shipped some seats (both fronts and complete back) to CA from OH for around $100. It's all about packing it tightly into the fewest boxes. Not quibbling about the price of the goods but 3 boxes seems much. The front springs can be spun into each other then loaded over one of the front or rear shocks to save room. Just did a quick calc on fedex.com. A 12"x16"x32" box from Des Moines to Cincinnati with insurance is $20.79 for 60lbs, $34.78 for 80 lbs. This will be going to a business too, no residential charges. I appreciate your help. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
