That and the amount of money I threw at modifying it when I 1st had it, the M3 e36 coupe has always been a favourite of mine, it would just be nice to come close to the power of the M3 out of my trusty old 318iS since it looks like an M3. Do you have a link for the kit you advise me to go for? Does it come with everything I will need to complete the conversion? Thanks again | | | 03-08-2022, 09:19 AM | #137 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2017 Location: Stuttgart, Germany Posts: 110 | Quote: Originally Posted by Uk318iS It is a nice car, its been off the road because I replaced it (several times over now) but couldn't part with it as I've always had a soft spot for it. Thanks again | You can grab the kit at https://hydemotorworks.com/shop/prod...rcharger-kits/ However best thing would be to get in touch via contact us so that you get a discount for being a 318Ti org member. | | | 05-30-2022, 02:08 PM | #138 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2022 Location: Greece Posts: 1 | Greetings, i have a question. I have a m54b30 engine and have a m62 easily acessible. I have done the "math" behind the air flow of the SC and how much rpesusre it will make, and it got me to 0.3 bar at full capacity of the SC. What will be the HP gains with 0.3 bar? (4.3psi) m62: My engine requires 1050 cc/min, and the SC makes maximum of 14000 cc/min. which makes a pressure ratio of 1.3 m90: I also did the "math" behind the eaton m90 and it makes maximum of 21000cc/min, which will give me 1bar. (ratio of 2) Everywhere i read a post that includes "math", it makes sense, and everyone agrees on these nimbrs, but manufacturers are using the m62 for even 3.2 liter engines, and m90 for 4.5 liter engines. Alongside with the manufacturers, threads that do not include the "math" behind the pressure and volume, everyone agres that m62 is good for 3l engine, and m90 is an overkill. So basically posts with math say that the m62 is too small, and the m90 is barely making it, but threads with practical application sy that the m62 is good, and m90 is an overkill. Where am i wrong? Aint the boosted engines be working at 0.6-1 bar? A friend of mine has a Mini copper (eaton m45) and has only changed his pulley and works at 1 bar making 220hp. I feel like i am missing information. Its a question best asked elsewhere I would say or you could email directly the manufacturer of the kit. a lot of information online counter each other and its good to do a lot more research, there are a lot of things coming into play in the math. From our own tests we found the M62 when setup properly will be sufficient to provide a good 70HP - 100HP power increase depending on the engine and tune. This is true for the M54B30 as well. The efficiency of the supercharger also comes into play. Also one must ask, will the engine be stock? Will it be built to handle more power to justify a bigger supercharger or a turbo? If its stock and the ECU is also, and you never plan to build it and keep it reliable, then the answer is simple a smaller supercharger that does not push you to the limits is what you want. For that there is the V3.62 Kit of course which gets you some 6-8PSi with an air to air intercooler. if that is the kit in question then its really best to email. Hope that helps. If anyone is interested, there is Summer Sale with a a massive 22% discount on all the kits at the official Hyde Motor Works Shop. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 2 (0 members and 2 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
