Thouroughly cleaned and detailed the M50 intake. The envy of M3 owners everywhere! We also spent a bunch of time sorting out the powersteering so that everything works well. Tim had 134 hp going into this swap and should end up with over 200 hp by the end. That's going to be pretty easy to tell on the butt dyno. Pulled the old one to inspect it and realized it had the dreaded plastic impeller. Put in a new thermostat at the same time. Worked on fabbing up the cold air intake. Got to trim the pipe a bit. I'm really digging these new Amsoil filters though. The cooling system is complete and hooked up. Filled her with coolant and cranked her over. Having an issue with one of the fuel-injectors and a leaky o-ring. Got to get that sorted out before we go any further. Should be running soon. I think Tim is crying a little bit because of that "thing" stuck to his butt :P, but all in all, very nice niks! Also wondering what your going to do with the remnants of the 325 the motor came out of? I could use a few parts! __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 04-17-2008, 08:52 PM | #21 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Canada Posts: 29 | Quote: Originally Posted by rwd_king the increase in Canadians here lately is fantastic! Car had an LSD, so that sold quickly. I'm going to use a few things on 325i too. What do you need? PM me. There are quite a few little things that need to be swapped over that you wouldn't even think of and would nickel and dime you to death. Find a complete donor car if you want to do this. Hope to have this thing running tonight. Will update as soon as it is. Tim is running! 8) And he sounds mean! Straight headers have a way of sounding like that. New o-rings on the injectors means no gas leaking. Started up easy. O2 sensor isn't hooked up yet so it is running open loop, but it is running and running well. We are pumped. Started to put some more of the peripherals back on. Now we need to get the exhaust hooked up, clutch bled, coolant system bled, HID's hooked back up, strut bar, and a few other things. Can't wait to take this thing for a test run. Just hope no one sees me. Nik | | | 04-19-2008, 05:04 AM | #25 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Canada Posts: 29 | Almost back together! Trimmed up the CAI so it would fit better. Built a brace to hold it steady. Fixed the fuel leak. Started to hook up the HIDS, etc. Mark drove it out into the alley and back and forth a bit to warm it up and get the thermostat to open up. My wife said that she could hear it from the house and wondered if the neighbours were going to make a fuss. Going to get a hold of Kevin Foy today to see if he'll fab up some exhaust for us. Could mean driving it across town with open headers. Ouch.
