Default College mode refinish project!

Just got these rims $150
Four mcontours 17x8.5 look to be oem. We're run as winter wheels bad clear and paint. Minor alloy pitting. Plan is a refinish and probably flipping them. Not sure on final wish will cross that bridge when I get there. But for now I have something to do between break best way to spend a whole paycheck. Yay broke college life.

Anyway some pics.
Came off an X3 and tires are kinda shot.

Im pretty sure the rims are some type of replica wheels but all seem to be of good quality. Going to try to get the tires off the wheels today. Hopefully going to use a buddies truck to break the bead.

Yep pretty sure they are italian reps. And aside from finish damage the rims are beautiful.

Just finished taking the tires off.

About one coat of stripper on this wheel.

one of the worst areas of corrosion

Take your time and be patient when you're ready for paint. If you need to fill any imperfections...may I suggest the Bumper Repair Kit from Autozone. It's a 2-stage epoxy kit that costs 7 or 8 bucks. it has worked well for me. apply and let dry for 2-3 days prior to sanding. The sh!t is as hard as nails and easy to apply. Also, light coats of the stuff...any excess epoxy is more work to remove/sand.

Im using Klean-strip brand stripper. It works OK. I think ill need maybe five or six applications of it to get all the primer and **** off. I have been using a Scoth-brite scrubby pad to remove the stripper and finish. It has actually removed some of the aluminum pitting too. All the corrosion should come out fairly easy. There doesnt seem to be any damage to the lips, I dont think ill need to fill anything back in. Ill definitely keep that product in mind though, Sean!

You've got plenty of work to do!

Any idea on final color?
