Default FS: Clubsport suspension + Konis

I hate to do this but I am putting up for sale a set of OEM '95 Clubsport springs and sways along with 2 Koni Yellow single adjustable shocks. This is a perfect upgrade for those with base suspensions in the northern states where roads and snow are not hospitable to aftermarket lowered suspension heights. It should lower a non-sport (i.e. base, active or cali package) 318ti about .50" to .75" and drastically improve the handling. I intended to install these on my car but have recently accepted the fact that, sadly, I need the cash more and can never seem to pony up the $ to have it done. Details:

OEM Clubsport springs- $100- used 80k miles to my knowledge in southern state. Cleaned, scrubbed and painted over the scratches on the ends only. Still see the green stripe indicating sport.

OEM Clubsport sway bars F/R- $150- used 100k miles in NJ- not cleaned up, but I can give a go at it if you care. Includes original links.

Koni yellow single adjustable front (L/R) struts- $100- used 30k miles in central US- masked, lightly sanded to remove as much surface rust as I could, then 3 coats of rust inhibiting primer and rust inhibiting yellow. Top coat of school bus yellow. Xtra can included if Fedex will allow. Can provide part numbers but I guarantee them to be correct for a 318ti.

Prefer to sell as full set ($350) which will avoid a lot of shipping costs for you. I get about 30% off normal Fedex ground rates through my company so you'll save on shipping anyways. Above prices do not include shipping from OH 44118. Certified check prefered, paypal OK but need every dollar I can get these days. I have been a member here in good standing for 3 years and have only good feedback on ebay as philabuster11 so no messing around by me.

Also up for grabs will be a complete airbox assy from a '96 ti and drop in K/N filter. Looking for $50 for both + shipping.

This is a great suspension package! It's like driving a 4 cylinder mcoupe, seriously! Good luck with the sale!

Clarifying, is your package price $350 + shipping to Chicago? Which shocks are you offering? Thanks.

Sorry, I just saw that you stated they were the fronts so I would need to buy two rear shocks to complete the set.

Correct- the best price I have for the koni single adjustables is from TC Kline- $92 each w/o shipping. They work with your existing rear shock mounts.

BTW your shipping to chicago by fedex ground would be about $11.00 for everything w/insurance via fedex ground.

So, using my first grader's mathmatics skills, that puts me all in at $545 + s/h + tax on the rears. How was the Koni ride? I was leaning towards Bilstein Sports with HR springs = same, harder, softer?

Twomato- I never mounted these so I cannot give you first hand accounts but they have been inspected and purchased from other board members in good standing. It's a question of money at a time when we have a child, my wife left her job and just finished up school. What I'm asking is the same as I paid initially with no usage in between.

However, when I was heavily deliberating 2+ years ago and surfing a lot of sites, the general concensus I gathered was that Koni offered superior ride comfort to Bilstein in addition to being adjustable. No doubt there are Bilstein lovers out there but that was my honest impression of peoples comments. In terms of springs, if you really ask and look, there are more than a few people who installed lowering springs and regret it. Cleveland roads are terrible so I decided I would go for the stock sport height paired with the Konis and sway bars for more stiffness. I spoke to Koni technicians and they explained they design their shocks so that their softest setting is the same as the OEM sport. From there you can dial it up as you please. In terms of balance, there are several members on the yahoo list with konis who can lend some ideas on stiffness settings front vs. rear.

As for matching the rear Konis, there are 2 kinds of Koni shocks for the rear Ti sport suspension. Koni makes an adjustable yellow that requires the shock to be compressed to adjust it. So you either have to disconnect the top or the bottom, twist and reattach. This uses the existing 10mm shock mounts and is the less expensive version- in May '04 they quoted me $209/pr shipped or $198 picked up. The more convenient but spendy version is made by Koni exclusively for TC Kline. It uses a 12mm rear shock mount but does not require compression to adjust so it is more convenient. It does require drilling an access hole in your rear strut towers and carpet. Those go for $153 each + $99/pr for the shockmounts. As a daily driver I assumed I would set the rears once and be done so I never considered the more expensive version.

Can you tell I've researched this? It sucks for me to give this up, but I'm old anyways and almost used to disappointment.
