Default Cluster Lights

All my cluster lights and lights by my shifter and on the climate control don't wont work. I call Bavarian Auto asked for a headlight switch and received a hazard switch. Called back and the guy he told me i don't need a headlight switch and its some kind of light module in the fuse box that i need to go have fixed. I looked for it and now i'm just confused, because i have been working behind my stereo and i found a grey and red wire disconnected so i was sure i must have shorted out my dimmer in the headlight switch. HELP.

Call them back and tell them YOU DO need a headlight switch. The guys at Bavarian Auto Recycling are complete idiots. I went through the same exact thing with these guys. First they sent me a regular e36 headlight switch after I told them the 318ti uses the same switch as a Z3. Then they sent me a blown headlight switch, which is what I already had. Then they sent me a foglight switch. After all that I said screw it and fixed the blown dimmer rheostat in my original switch.

I've never ordered anything from BAR but after seeing the prices they ask for just about anything they sell, I'm not sure I'd want to.

That said, if your car doesn't have fog lights, I'm pretty sure I have a spare headlight switch if you're interested...

Yeah the guy was telling me the headlight panel infront of it was triagnle and i kept saying no its not triangle. I hope he sent me the right one or ill be pissed. I dont have fog light wiring but there are fog lights installed, if i dont get the right part from Bavarian i would love to take it off your hands Zoner.

If he's talking about the 'triangle' (dash vent) near the headlight switch in this photo:

Then he is probably going to send an incorrect switch again. The ti and E36 z-series cars have a pull-type headlight switch, with the dimmer rheostat built into the switch. All other E36's have a switch like the one pictured above with the dimmer not part of the switch. I can understand someone at a wrecking yard not knowing the nuances between certain models for every single make of vehicle out there, but one would think that somebody who deals exclusively in BMW parts all day, every day would not only know these differences, but could probably recite specific part numbers off of the top of their head.

Let me know if you end up needing the switch- I'll dig around in my storage locker, but I'm pretty sure I have one. Good luck!

Behold the powers of Bavarian Auto Recycling. Second wrong part in a row. I talked to the guy who ordered the two parts for me and he told me "from 1992-2000 for the e36 they only switch ever made was that dial style head light switch, ive never heard what your describing to me. Are you sure you this is for a BMW?" After 20 minutes of hold i talked to someone new he told me the other guy was a moron and didnt know what he was talking about. And that he will ship it as fast as he can.
