I picked up a wrecked M3 for dirt cheap and the part-out alone has funded my s52 swap. Both of us are known to be bargain hunters. Our cars will be parked side by side pretty soon! | | | 09-30-2009, 03:21 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: TN Posts: 216 | Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 Tony got his LS1 for dirt cheap and his project is still in the works. The key is to know which ones to pass up in order to get that KILLER deal. Sure, sometimes you gotta bite the bullet and pay to play. There's rare parts that you have to snatch up before someone else does. | | | 09-30-2009, 03:11 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | welcome, good luck getting rid of that Saturn | | | 09-30-2009, 03:17 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: TN Posts: 216 | i ask this because a swap is going to be in the near future after the purchase. i always tend to swap or boost the cars that i am interested in at the time and boost is like crack. but in the past i have only built and swaped hondas then traded them for other hondas and then traded them for others lol it is a never ending cycle. but there is something about the hatch that i love i like them more than the m3's it just seems to lack in the power department. and this is the car i have wanted for so long so i am planning on this to be the one that i go all out on. no more settling for a cheaper part just to get it done sooner to get to auto x that weekend. only the best of the best. hell i sat down one night and added up the money spent over the last 5 years and it shocked me at what i have spent and what i have to show for it. so like i said i plan on doing this right. but first i have to find out more of what i want to do. lol | | | 09-30-2009, 03:25 AM | #10 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by FNEG ...but there is something about the hatch that i love i like them more than the m3's it just seems to lack in the power department. and this is the car i have wanted for so long so i am planning on this to be the one that i go all out on. no more settling for a cheaper part just to get it done sooner to get to auto x that weekend. only the best of the best. | Welcome to my world. My project has been going on for over a year now and I'm in no rush to finish it. My only motivation besides being able to drive a badass car is to have it done before Bimmerfest so I can meet up with Tony in Ohio and drive cross country with him. | | | 09-30-2009, 03:28 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: TN Posts: 216 | Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 Welcome to my world. As far as the s52 goes, its very expensive IMO, so i didnt buy one. I started saving up for it, then bought an m50 instead and run with mustang gt's, charger r/ts, and the like all day. I dont really walk them, but i can hold my own very easily. As far as the LS1 goes, i have a rebuilt ls1 for 400$ and am building a t56 for it, along with some other mods, looking at a good 400hp for well under 4k once done but the budget on the whole car is 15k. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 09-30-2009, 03:28 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Id honestly say, stick with OBDI if you want bmw, OBDII if you go GM, that way it stays compliant as well as with bmw, makes swaps so much easier to do without a headache. I pulled the 2.5L OBDI engine out of my OBDII chassis and put it in my OBDI chassis. The OBDII chassis required some work on the wiring side, the OBDI chassis required one snip of a wire and done. If you want to see those build threads, click the link below and there are links to every build in there. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...&postcount=172 Jess, im totally counting down to bimmerfest, i really am. I gotta go down to columbus and pick up my t56 for rebuild then ill be set to go on getting this bish goin. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 09-30-2009, 03:34 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: TN Posts: 216 | Quote: Originally Posted by Bluebimma Id honestly say, stick with OBDI if you want bmw, OBDII if you go GM, that way it stays compliant as well as with bmw, makes swaps so much easier to do without a headache. Weight is VERY negligible. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
