Default rear shocks

As the owner of a 97 318ti, i am seeking clarity on my rear shocks, called the dealer and asked him if my rear setup was the touring or the sport suspension in order to replace the rear shocks and all he could say was that my car is the 316ti sport based on the vin number and he was unsure,,,

Can anyone give me some insight on correct shocks for my car?????

funny how the sport shocks are cheaper then the touring .

Thanks for your insight
