Default Royal Purple Quest.

Royal Purple offers 3 different trans oils & so I'm kinda confused, I guess...

ATF Manual Transmission fluid
SynchroMax (for manual trans. which require for auto trans fluid??)
Max-Gear Synthethic Gear Oil 75W-90

1- Which one is the most ideal for our cars (manual trans - '99 ti)??
2- Could I use Synth gear oil 75W-90 in the gearbox, as added protection, or would that be an overkill with possible additional ramifications??

thx!

I run Redline MTL 75-90. No problems. I would actually say the transmission is a lot quiter and shifts smoother than it did with BMW labeled transmission fluid.

I use Royal Purple SynchroMax in the manual transmission gear box.

I use Royal Purple Max-Gear Synthetic Gear Oil 75w90 in the differential (no additional additives needed for LSD.

Just to clarify my post as it could be confusing the 75/90 I run in my transmission is transmission lube. I don't think running 75/90 gear lube in your transmission is a good idea but I don't really know that for sure. I do know that 75/90 transmission oil has a much different smell, appearance, and consistency that 75/90 gear oil. Gear oil smells like crap.

Sulfur additives (friction modifiers) make it smell like rotten eggs. Wear disposable gloves!

X2 for the Synchromax in manual tranny (use it in my other BMW)
I use either Redline 75W/90 or Amsoil Severe Gear 75W/90 in the rear diff.
