Default any m54b30 swaps in 318ti?

hey all, im thinking about getting this done once i get my taxes.... swapping a m54b30 in my ti, expecting it to be around 5-6gs for engine, trans and diff..... as i currently have a m42 5sp obd1... should be similar to an e30 swap soo...and its for just day to day driving not racing or track.

any m54 swaps on the board?

The M54B30 is not an easy swap and the upside is not that great. While the lighter aluminum block from the M54 is attractive that's pretty much where the attraction ends.

You would need to sort out the OBD issue... convert the car to OBD2 or convert the engine to OBD1. Either way you are blazing trails (or trying to).

The M54B30 also has an electronic throttle. You can convert to the throttle body from an M52tu or even M50... if not you will need the gas pedal from an E46 330 or the like.

Assuming you make it work you have 225 hp an M50 with S50 cams and a chip makes the same power with MUCH less hassle and probably 1/3 the cost.

I would swap an M50/52 in it with some M3 cams and a chip. You can easily make more power than the M54, save a good bit of money, bolt it to your tranny, use any VANOS OBDI harness and throw a chip and a red label 413 in it. The weight savings is nice but unless you want to race it you won't notice the difference. Just be sure to replace the springs because its going to sit low in the front afterwards. Where in mid Ga are you, I lived in Macon forever before getting stationed out here in Hawaii.

the m54 is such a good engine though, but i might just do a m52b28 from a low mileage 328is if i can find em.. which i have. ive actually found a few low mileage s52's for under 2k
