Default EWS III

I have been looking to do a swap for some time.

I have bought a donor car (Euro M Coupe) which has EWS III fitted. I am looking to fit the mechanicals into a 318Ti. I haven't yet bought the 318Ti.

a.Do I need to buy a car fitted with EWS III or
b. can I modify the wiring to fit the EWS III to the 318Ti. All the feeds are there just in different connectors.
c. Can I have the EWS II realigned?

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Brian

Well I can answer my own questions now:

I bought a car that had an EWSIII fitted a 99 Ti so that it matched with the late 98 M Coupe. EWS III was fitted after 7/98.

I changed over the ECU and EWSIII units and used the ignition ring from the M Coupe on a second cylinder with the M Coupe key.

I have kept the Ti key for remote locking and to start the car. So now it is a two key car. I like the security as car often gets left at a station.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

Cheers

Brian

The ignition ring is just a transmitter. You didn't need to change that.

To get back to one key, first switch your ignition cylinder back.

Second, you need to open up both keys and switch the chips inside. Therefore you have only one key for the car, but the matching electronics for you new EWS system.
